❄️ Freezethawed: The Newsletter #060 - 2023 In Full Circle
Hello everyone!
It may be the first time in recent memory that a year is ending on a Sunday. On that note, if you are reading this email before 2023 is over, I have an exercise for you. While watching Ali Abdaal’s recent video where he reflects on the year that has been, he talks about - The Wheel of Life, which is nothing but a helicopter view of your life stating objectively on a scale of 1 to 10 where you stand in terms of growth and fulfillment, to help you find balance, between your work and your life.
Though this concept has been described numerous times before, I am sharing his version of ‘The Wheel’, because it is the most pragmatic approach on this topic. The Wheel deals with three aspects of life - work, health, and relationships which are again further subdivided into three more areas:
- Work
- Mission: Career path
- Money: Income and finances
- Growth: Job fulfillment
- Health
- Body: Physical health
- Mind: Mental health
- Soul: Spiritual health
- Relationships
- Romance: Partner
- Family: Immediate and extended
- Friends: New and evergreen
How it works:
- Save it, or just annotate on it giving yourself a score from 0 to 10 (10 being the highest) based on your progress in 2023.
- You should end up with a spider diagram of sorts.
- If you have given yourself a score of 5 or less, means you need to work on that area/aspect in 2024.
- Take action!
PS - You should take at least 30 minutes to sit with the wheel, reflect upon the year, and give yourself an honest mark. Only an honest marking will help you reveal areas and aspects of your life that need work.
See you next year,
Anujeet.
